Christopher H. DeWitt is a photographer based out of Brooklyn, NY. He graduated from the University of New Mexico with a BFA in Art Studio.

My pictures are ethnographic documents of my own relationships and interactions. Through the act of cataloging and immortalizing these moments in images. I both uphold and subvert the power of the photograph to sanctify the people and events captured. This parallels the tension that is at the core of my artistic work –how to uphold the love and intimacy I feel for my friends and family when I am on the other side of the camera.

My artwork has long since been focused on my long-distance relationship with my significant other. The photographs combined with letters depicting the struggle of the distance separating us but also the preciousness of the little time we get to spend together. The photographs are taken everywhere I go from New Mexico to Ithaca New York. Through the creation of art books, I am attempting to create a visual diary of the events that unfold during our time with one another. This work is ongoing while I simultaneously create other works.
